The Fenton Art Glass museum is Frank Fenton's
labor of love, one that he is still involved with today at the young age of
84. Mr. Fenton was thinking about the museum in the 1960's, but the company
needed whatever resources they had for their own operation. The museum was finally
opened in the Spring of 1977 and is a great showcase of the Fenton history,
as well displaying glass from many other manufacturers.
There are more than 30 display cases, with each one holding about 25-30 pieces so that at any one time, between 700-800 pieces are on display. Although this is not the complete collection, the glass displays are rotated periodically so that eventually all the pieces make it through the museum.
Here
is your own online tour of the museum. Although the pictures are not shown in
a particular order, I tried to group them the best I could. This is just a small
sampling of what is shown in the museum and I hope to add more pictures in the
future. Some of the pictures shown are not of the best quality, but it's difficult
under interior lighting conditions where a flash camera may not be usable because
of the display case reflections. Even so, I'm sure you will agree that after
seeing these pictures, a personal visit to the museum will be necessary. And
one more warning, please wear a bib so that the drool will not get on your keyboard
:)
