As you have noticed, there are quite a few changes since the last issue of "What's New?". The site has a new home on a separate Web Hosting service, it's own domain name of www.fentonfan.com, a FREE Classifieds service, some new articles on the L.G. Wright Museum and Auction, and a few other things. Some things I will be working on this month will be trying to get that QVC Database online (a big project), and I've been thinking about the possibility of an online Auction here at the site. More about this in the "Editors Ramblings" section. This is just a temporary "What's New?" for this month, just to get something out before the month is over. I will be getting more information on new Fenton products and convention pictures so check back in a few days.
Green Burmese?! - On the August 7th QVC show, George Fenton mentioned to one of the callers a new Burmese treatment that they will be coming out with. Some of the convention attendee's have seen samples of what looks like a soft pistachio green base glass with the pink Burmese variegation. They say the handpainted samples are quite lovely and should be a big hit with Burmese collectors. Fenton Fanatics will keep you posted with whatever pictures and information I can pry, beat, or bribe out of my informants :)
More Blue Burmese! - It was also mentioned at the conventions that Fenton will be adding more pieces next year in the Blue Burmese treatment. With most pieces selling out already in that treatment, I'm not surprised. We will just have to wait and see what Fenton plans to add.
The 1990's Decade - Another tidbit of information from the convention concerns a new book that James Measell is currently working on that will most likely be titled "Fenton Glass - The 1990s Decade". He is in the process of writing the book now, but Jim Measell reports that it probably won't be available until August of 2000. We should all be thankful that Mr. Measell is so dedicated to presenting the history of Fenton and other glass companies.
The 1999 NFGS and FAGCA Conventions - are now over! So if you didn't make it this year, like this poor Editor, then plan on the next conventions at the start of a new millennium! I hope to bring you some pictures and a write-up on the conventions similar to those of the PNWFA convention provided by Jack Skaw, which were excellent! Some of the new items mentioned or seen at the convention has already been mentioned above, but I will add more information as it becomes available.
