Fenton's
2000 Connoisseur Collection -
(Continued)
And finally, a piece that brings back Fenton's free form glassmaking, the
"Hanging Hearts" on Willow Green Opalescent 7-1/2" Vase (8855
GF). With Cobalt Hanging Hearts and crest. Created by Dave Fetty, Jim Ralston,
and Bob Hays. Limited to 1250.
Well that is the roundup of Fenton's Connoisseur Collection for 2000. Once
I can post the full supplement, you will agree that this has to be one of
Fenton's finest Connoisseur lines ever created. And I agree with the sentiments
expressed lately on the Fenton Chat Board, "BRAVO, BRAVO!!!".
But if you think this was the only exciting news from the June Supplement,
then you were sadly mistaken :) Which brings us to.....
Centennial Collection -
From now through the year 2005, Fenton's 100th Anniversary, they will create
2 items each year selected by family members that represents the finest in
Fenton Art Glass. For the year 2000 they have some wonderful pieces, chosen
by Bill and Frank Fenton.
"Rose Poppies"
on Burmese Diamond Optic 9" Vase (4855 WL). Designed by Frances Burton,
a lovely display with perennial blooms of rose poppies accented with Lilac
buds in a summer bouquet. Bill Fenton signature piece.
The Frank Fenton signature piece is a lovely 5-piece Willow Green opalescent
16-1/2" Epergne (5460
G1). This style of epergne was made originally for the LG Wright Glass company
back in the 1940's with a very similar one in Topaz opalescent selling for
thousands on the secondary market.
As you can see, Fenton has a great lineup in store for us this summer, and
one that will keep this poor Webmaster broke for sometime to come :)
