The
Circle Continues -
Although Mary has retired to a life busy with Church activities
and her writings, the love of Fenton Burmese and other glass was extended to Mary's
daughter, Joyce Colella. Joyce was determined that her mother's legacy of fine
exclusives would never die, and thus commissioned Fenton to create a new series
of Burmese and other exclusives titled "Circle of Love". A nice card
is included with each piece in the collection with a poem written by Mary: "Together
- in fond embrace - Joins the white roses in a Circle of Love - Always I shall
be there for you; Swift to come on the wings of a dove." The pieces were
decorated with a lovely decoration, White Roses and lavender Forget-me-nots in
the front and the "Love Bouquet" in the back joined by pink and white rosettes
and blue and lavender forget-me-nots with a dove holding white streamers uniting
the two bouquets.
The first set of exclusives for Joyce was a set of 7 items, commissioned
in 1997 and 98. Each one is identified by an edition number inscribed on the bottom
along with Joyce's and Mary Walrath's signature. Fenton did have ware numbers
assigned to the pieces, but after hours of looking over the faxed information
they sent, Mary, Joyce, and this author was more confused than ever. So it is
with Joyce's wish they only be identified by the Edition number until such time
that the fax can be deciphered and official Fenton ware numbers can be assigned.

Most of these items have sold out, or close to being sold out.
With such limited numbers being produced, it's not surprising that these are getting
harder to find. The "September Morn" set is particularly interesting
because it's the first time Rosalene and Burmese has been combined. As you could
see from the picture above, they go together very well. The Burmese lamp has to
be beautiful, and with only 60 being made, is one of the most limited lamps you
can probably find.
